The Case for Cake

Nothing says "happy birthday!" like a piece of chocolate cake.

Nothing says “happy birthday!” like a piece of chocolate cake. This photo doesn’t do it justice!

It’s not often someone bakes a cake from “scratch” these days, but my new friend, Stephanie, took the trouble to bake a special chocolate cake for my birthday. Her cake had chocolate filling and ganache frosting with a hint of cinnamon.  It was a chocolate lover’s delight, I tell you!

That’s me. The “chocolate lover.” The cake was delicious in September, and it was delicious in November. It froze well. If you can’t wait for it to defrost, it warms up nicely in the microwave.  Thank you, Stephanie!  You’re a rare friend!
